1. What inspired you to pursue a seat on the Board of Trustees?
Alief ISD has been part of my journey since preβK, so serving as a trustee feels like coming full circle. This district provided me with the foundation to succeed, and now I feel compelled to give back. I want to help ensure that every student has the same opportunities I was fortunate to have, while also bringing a fresh perspective as someone who grew up here. For me, itβs about honoring the past, strengthening the present, and building a future that reflects the best of our community. Blessed, humbled, and excited to have this opportunity.
2. When you think about students today, what opportunities excite you most?
What excites me most is that students in the world today have more pathways to success than ever before and Alief is absolutely here for it. Whether through sports, technology, career programs, community activities, or entrepreneurship, there are tons of opportunities to connect their learning to real life. But beyond the academics, Iβd remind them to value the atmosphere of the classroom itself. The memories you make with teachers and classmates are just about as important as the material. Years from now, youβll remember the laughter, the challenges (and how you overcame them!), and the friendships as much as the lessons. And trust me, those cafeteria stories stick around, too!
3. What is one initiative or area of focus you hope to champion as a trustee?
I want to champion excellence and access. Every student deserves the tools, support, and encouragement to thrive. For me, that means turning theory into practiceβensuring our decisions have a tangible impact for our students and families. Iβll focus on resources for teachers, innovative programs for students, and strong partnerships with parents and the community.
4. What message do you have for the Alief community (students/staff/stakeholders) as you begin your term?
My message is simple: thank you for trusting me with this responsibility. I promise to listen, to serve with integrity, and to stay true to myselfβwhich means balancing seriousness with maybe just a touch of humor along the way. Together, weβll continue building a district that reflects the best of our community. I couldnβt be more excited to be in this position, helping the community I love. Yep, mentioning my excitement twice. Alief proud!
5. What excites you most about the future of Alief ISD?
Iβm excited about the momentum we have with new leadership and a committed board. Running has taught me that life is full of racesβsometimes you sprint, sometimes you pace yourself, but thereβs always a right rhythm. Alief has invested in its teachers and infrastructure to provide students with the best possible environment for learning and growth. Whatever challenges we face, weβll approach them with grace and ensure that we keep moving forward at the right pace. With the resilience of our students, the dedication of our staff, and the support of our families, I believe Alief is thriving and is positioned to keep thriving with a future thatβs bright and full of promise.
